A practice increasing in popularity across the globe for firms looking to beef up their cyber-security efforts is a Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing which a way to mimic a cyber-attack.
Let me first begin by briefly explaining this two-step process...
Step 1) Vulnerability Assessment: This is where a third party vendor would scan your firms network looking for vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities are classified based on overall risk in descending order; Critical, High, Medium, Low, and Informational.
Step 2) Penetration Testing: Once the vulnerabilities are found within a network the next step is to attempt to exploit those vulnerabilities.
This is a great process as it gives firms the ability to properly identify where their vulnerabilities lie and ideally over time begin to fix those vulnerabilities and elevate their cyber security posture.
Most vendors that provide this as a service will do a one time scan per year. Here at Entreda, we always thought that it's better to be safe than sorry and that is why we offer Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing to firms quarterly (4 times a year). Combined with extensive reporting this allows firms the ability to clearly see where their vulnerabilities lie within there firm and a chance to fix them and see how they do on their next scan.
This is just one of the many services that Entreda provides for Financial Services firms, as well as Healthcare firms.
